CU softball sets wins record with perfect weekend
SANDY, Ore.—With a combined eight RBI by leadoff hitter
Meghan Luebbert, No. 19-Concordia swept Eastern Oregon 11-3, 8-5 in CCC softball action held at Sandy High School on Saturday afternoon.
With the results, Concordia improved to 36-12 on the season and 17-5 in CCC contests. Its 36 wins set a single season school record, breaking the total from CU's 2010 and 2013 squads.
Eastern Oregon fell to 16-25 overall and 7-17 in league games.

Behind a 7-run first inning, No. 19-ranked Concordia University defeated Eastern Oregon University 11-3 in the first game of a CCC softball doubleheader on Saturday.

EOU threatened in the fourth, loading the bases with just one out but were sent back to the field after an unassisted double-play to second base where CU's
Destinee Chang tagged the advancing runner before steeping on first for the inning-ending play.
Cassie Wendt put the Mountaineers on the board in the fourth with a 3-run homer to left-center, her 12th roundtripper of the season.
Game 2: Concordia 8, Eastern Oregon 5
Jumping out to a 7-1 lead, Concordia held on to defeat Eastern Oregon 8-5 to complete its seventh CCC sweep of the season.
Meghan Luebbert drove in four runs for the second straight game for the Cavs while EOU was led once again by Cassie Wendt, who connected on a grand slam in the fifth.
The Cavs scored two in the opening frame and nearly made it an early blowout with a
Taylor Copher blast to deep center where EOU outfielder Shelby Baertsch reached over the wall to rob a home run and prevent two more runs from scoring.
Concordia broke the game open with a grand slam by Luebbert in the third after an EOU error kept the Cavs at the plate.
The Mountaineers belted a grand slam of their own in the top of the fifth with Marisa Gonzalez connecting on a shot to left to make it a three-run deficit.
Turning to the pen, reliever
Tori Muir (2-2) preserved the win for Concordia by allowing just one hit over the final 2 2/3 innings. Muir picked up her second win as many days for her efforts.
