Oregon Tech Settles for Split with College of Idaho

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Adam Kandra scattered five hits for Oregon Tech in game 1, but the Owls were unable to overcome a seven-run third inning, and another comeback bid to College of Idaho in the nightcap, as the team’s split today’s NAIA West doubleheader with the Owls winning 8-5 and Coyotes taking game 2, 12-10.
 
Oregon Tech sits at 6-14 in NAIA West action and 15-26 overall.  C of I ran their overall mark to 26-18 and even in the conference standings at 10-10.
 
Kandra moved to 2-2 on the mound allowing just five hits and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings.  Brian Middleton picked up his third save surrendering just one C of I hit in 3 1/3.  Dylan Rogers finished 3-for-3 with two RBI with Brendan Flaherty adding two hits.  Tyson Dahl homered and drove in two with Ethan Schlecht collecting a RBI in the win.
 
Mitch Viydo was 2-for-3 for C of I with Jake Hennessey and Cole Mansanerez collecting a double each in the loss.  Mansanerez, Troy Carr and Brady Mooney drove in a run apiece.
 
Game 2 saw another Tech comeback, however, Joel Martin was able to coax a ground ball in the bottom of the ninth with bases loaded and two outs to get C of I a split in today’s doubleheader.
 
Mansanerez finished 4-for 5, including a pair of doubles, and Chase Miller 3-for-6, and a double, in the game 2 win.  Seth Champlin, Jordan Grubbs and Mooney collected a pair of hits in the contest.  Grubbs doubled and Champlin and Moodey would drive in two runs each. 
 
For the Owls Colton Minton and Domonic Morris added three hits each with Minton driving in a pair of runs in the loss.  Dahl, Flaherty, Rogers and Schlecht collected two hits each.  Rogers recorded four RBI and a double with Morris and Dahl adding doubles in the game.
 
Oregon Tech resumes NAIA West action this Sunday versus Menlo College with doubleheaders scheduled Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m.
