SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The Oregon Tech men's golf team survived a late charge by Concordia, hanging on to win the NCU Invitational on Tuesday by one stroke. Corban's Kade Crossland (pictured) cruised to the individual title with an eight-shot victory.
Leading by six strokes after 36 holes on Monday, OIT won the event 881-882 as Concordia roared back with the low team-round of the tournament on Tuesday. OIT shot a 296 while the Cavaliers hit an even-par 288 as a unit.
Corban University, who was six shots back on day one, finished the event in third place, scoring 296-294-297--887. Spokane Community College was fourth (899) followed by Warner Pacific (924) and the College of Idaho (1008).
Crossland posted his third straight two-under 70, finishing the event with a 6-under par 210. Tanner Maahs from Concordia posted the best score of the tournament with a 68 on Tuesday, jumping into a three-way tie for second place at +2 (218). He was joined by Warner Pacific's Jeremie Eloy and Michael Almonte from Spokane CC. Sean Adams took fifth to lead the team-champion Owls, shooting a 219.
The CCC schools will return to action on April 21-22 for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship hosted by Warner Pacific College at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
