McCall Gets Tech Win in Opener, Owls Split with Menlo

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Michael McCall struck out nine and Tyson Dahl went 5-for-5 to help the Owls to a 7-5 win in the opener, but Menlo used a six-run fifth inning in the nightcap to secure a 12-5 win in game two, as the Owls and Oaks split today’s NAIA West doubleheader at Kiger Stadium.
 
Oregon Tech sits at 16-27 overall and 7-15 in NAIA West play.  Menlo is 29-18 overall and 10-12 in the conference standings.
 
Tech’s 16-hit attack in game 1 was led by Dahl with five, while Brendon Flaherty added three and Dylan Rogers, Ryan Grant and Matthew Moorehead collected two each.  Grant drove in two runs with Dahl adding a double and Grant two in the win.  Moorehead recorded a triple.  McCall improved to 7-4 allowing just two runs in his 7 1/3 innings.  Brian Middleton closed it out for the Owls. 
 
Alex Tenorio finished 4-for-5 with Wes Hoskins adding a pair of hits and three RBI in the loss.
 
In game 2 Daniel Comstock provided the bulk of Menlo’s offense as the catcher roped two homers and a double while driving in five runs in the win.  Chris Freeman and Chris Berry drove in two runs each.  Brett Solano went the distance for the Oaks, improving to 9-2 on the season.  Solano allowed nine hits and five runs with just two earned.
 
Dom Morris sparked the Owls with a 3-for-4 performance with Moorehead recording two hits, including a double and three RBI.  Steven White added a double in the loss for Tech.
 
The team’s close out their four-game series tomorrow at Kiger Stadium with the first pitch set for 11 a.m.
