Teams Set for CCC Golf Championships Presented by U.S. Bank

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After sweeping regular season titles for men’s and women’s golf, Concordia remains the favorites for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Golf Championships presented by U.S. Bank.
 
The two-day tournament will be hosted by Warner Pacific at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in North Plains, Ore., starting Monday, Apr. 20. The tournament format consists of teams playing 36 holes on the first day and 18 holes on the second.
 
Concordia’s men’s team ended the regular season with 3,493 strokes in four CCC tournaments to finish first followed by Corban (3,544), Oregon Tech (3,619) and Warner Pacific (3,765).
 
In the individual race, Corban’s Kade Crossland finished as the conference leader with a stroke average of 70.3 while Concordia’s Ryan Melnychuk and Kotlon Kyne weren’t too far behind with an average of 72.1 and 73.1 respectively.
 
Dominating throughout the regular season, the Concordia women’s team swept all four conference tournaments to earn the season title, ending with 3,823 strokes, that’s 297 strokes less than second place College of Idaho.
 
Individually, three Cavaliers led the CCC in stroke average including Abby Brennan (79.6), Kelsey Whiles (79.9), and Lysnie Furuya (80.3) while Corban’s Brooke finished with an 80.8 average. 
 
The team with the lowest team stroke total at the end of the tournament and the individual medalist will earn an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which is slated for May 12-15 in Pooler, Ga., for the women, and May 19-22 in Daytona Beach, Fla., for the men.
