Concordia Wins Eighth Consecutive Team Title at CCC Championship Tournament

NORTH PLAINS, Ore.—Landing the top four on the leaderboard, No. 19-ranked Concordia captured its eighth straight Cascade Collegiate Conference Women's Golf Championships presented by U.S. Bank on Tuesday while playing Ghost Creek at Pumpkin Ridge.

Concordia (338-328-325—991) recorded the three lowest rounds of the two-day tournament to defeat College of Idaho (357-343-360—1,060) by 69 strokes. With the win, Concordia was awarded an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships which is slated for May 12-15 in Pooler, Ga.

Oregon Tech (366-388-378—1,132), Corban (383-374-377–1,134) and Warner Pacific (381-386-381—1,148) rounded out the team scores.

Concordia’s Kelsey Whiles (85-79-77—241) held a one-stroke lead entering the day over teammate Abby Brennan (83-82-85—250) and went on to take medalist honors by seven strokes with a tournament-low 6-over 77 in the final tour.

Whiles finished the five-event conference season with an 80.0 strokes per round average to earn CCC Player of the Year honors, edging Brennan (80.33 avg.) by five strokes. Whiles is the seventh Concordia player to win the league’s top honor.

All five Concordia golfers cracked the top seven in season scoring average to earn All-CCC accolades. Whiles and Brennan were followed by Lysnie Furuya (81.3 avg.) and Madison Alamillo (82.5 avg.) to give Concordia the top four scoring averages for the season while Holly Winburn (82.9 avg.) finished sixth overall.

Corban’s Brooke  Spencer (82.7 avg.) broke the Cavalier string while Oregon Tech’s Janelle Ferlan (83.3 avg.) earned All-CCC honors for the Hustlin’ Owls.
