HERMISTON, Ore. – Tiana Thomas of College of Idaho and Ryan Rosenau of Eastern Oregon University lead the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships presented by US Bank after the first day of action.
Thomas claimed three event victories on the day as she earned 2,818 points on the day. In the first event of the day, Thomas won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.84, tied for first in the high jump 1.51 meters (4-11 ½) and obtained a time of 26.08 in the 200 meter run.
Ashanna Hodge sits in second place with a total of 2,622 points. Hodge finished second in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.05 and in the 200 meter run with a time of 26.32. Holly Pfaff, who finished third last season in the Multi-Event Championship, sits in second place with 2,584 points on the day.
On the men’s side, Rosenau compiled 3,581 points on the first day to lead the event. He claimed first place in four of the five events on the day. In the 100 meter dash, Rosenau ran a time of 11.09 taking first place. Rosenau continued to extend his lead claiming first place in the long jump with a jump of 6.86 meters (22-6 ¼).
Oregon Tech’s duo of Daniel Brattain and Seth Gretz finished day one in second and third place, respectively. Brattain recorded 3,211 points and Gretz finished with 3,195. Gretz and Brattain finished second and third in the 100 meter dash as Gretz finished in a time of 11.16 and Brattain 11.43.
Jason Bracken of Corban sits in fourth place after day one with 3,138 points. Bracken won the shot put with a throw of 12.07 meters (39-7 ¼).
Day two of the CCC Multi-Event Championships begin tomorrow, Friday, April 24 at 9 a.m. at Hermiston High School with the Decathlon’s 110 meter hurdles. The heptathlon starts at 9:15 a.m. with the long jump.
