HERMISTON, Ore. – Tiana Thomas of College of Idaho and Ryan Rosenau of Eastern Oregon University have won the 2015 Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships presented by US Bank.
For the third straight season, College of Idaho has claimed the CCC Multi-Event Heptathlon as Tiana Thomas claimed the first place finish with 4,517 points, which is 61 points off the College of Idaho school record.
Thomas’ lead shrank a little after the first event of day two, the long jump. She jumped 5.00 meters (16-5). Ashanna Hodge edged her in the long jump as she jumped 5.02 meters (16-5 ¾). Claiming the win in the long jump was Emma Berg of Corban by jumping 5.09 meters (16-8 ½).
Thomas won the 800 meter race with a time of 2:24.11, earning 769 points. Holly Pfaff of Concordia finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:27.13.
Finishing second in the heptathlon was Pfaff of Concordia with 4,328 points. She finished third last season. Ashanna Hodge finished third with 4,062 points and Kiki McDonagh was fourth with 3,823 points.
Rosenau increased his lead in the decathlon by winning his fifth event to start the second day. In the 110 meter hurdles, Roseanu ran a time of 14.93, to collect 858 points. Seth Gretz and Daniel Brattain, both from Oregon Tech, finished second and third by running times of 15.10 and 15.36.
Winning the discus throw for the decathlon was Jason Bracken of Corban. Bracken recorded a throw of 36.01 meters (118-2). Roseanu earned a fourth place finish in the event with a throw of 29.95 meters (98-3 ½) earning him 463 points, taking his total to 4,902 points.
Seth Gretz cleared a height of 4.35 meters (14-3 ¼) to win the pole vault. He earned 716 points by winning the event. Rosenau, cleared 3.85 meters (12-7 ½) to finish fourth in the event. After eight events Rosenau, 5,478 points, held a 363 point lead over second place, Gretz at 5,115.
Rosenau continued to add to his lead in the decathlon as he collected 533 points in the javelin, with a throw of 46.22 meters (151-08), and ran a time of 4:40.69, for 676 points, in the 1,500 meter run. He finished with 6,687 points to win the decathlon.
Daniel Brattain and Seth Gretz, both of Oregon Tech, finished second and third with 6,152 points and 6,129 points, respectively. Jason Bracken of Corban finished fourth with 5,650 points.
