Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period of March 30-April 5.
Austin Hadley
Baseball – Pitcher
Concordia’s Austin Hadley has been named the Red Lion Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Hadley, a junior pitcher from Vancouver, Wash., allowed just 3 hits in 10 innings of work last week. The junior pitched a scoreless 9th to pick up a save at Pacific on Tuesday and returned with a 9-inning shutout performance on the road at British Columbia.
In a tense 1-0 game, Hadley retired 24 of 25 batters at UBC at one point while striking out a career high 12 batters.

Alex Tenorio
Baseball
Menlo’s Alex Tenorio has been named the Red Lion Baseball Player of the Week.
Tenorio, a senior pitcher from Valencia, Calif., had a breakout week with the bat, helping the Oaks to a perfect 5-0 record. The senior was 13-22 with three home runs (including a grand slam) two doubles and a triple and drove in 18 runs and scored six.
Tenorio also drew a trio of walks during his tremendous week.

Markus Sanders
Men’s Outdoor Field
Southern Oregon’s Markus Sanders has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Sanders, a senior from Modesto, Calif., made his season debut at the Stanford Invitational and became an NAIA automatic qualifier in two disciplines -- landing at No. 6 on the NAIA performance list in the hammer (178-8) and No. 8 in the discus (161-2).
He is a returning All-American in both events.

Eric Ghelfi
Men’s Outdoor Track
Southern Oregon’s Eric Ghelfi has been named the Red Lion Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Ghelfi, a senior from Redding, Calif., ran a 10K time of 30:24.90 that broke the school record by 15 seconds, gave him the top NAIA time by more than 20 seconds and was a PR by 26 seconds.
The finish also made him an automatic NAIA qualifier.

Jessica Holsinger
Softball - Pitcher
Corban’s Jessica Holsinger has been named the Red Lion Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Holsinger, a junior pitcher from Eagle, Idaho, registered two dominant performances in the circle, as she collected a pair of victories against Eastern Oregon and The College of Idaho. On Friday, she held the Mountaineers to just three runs en route to the 11-3, six-inning victory for the Navy and Gold. In the process, she tied a season-high with 11 strikeouts.
On Saturday, Holsinger pitched a complete game against The College of Idaho, as she held the Yotes to just two hits in the winning effort and the Warriors came back for an 8-2 triumph.

Taylor Bussey
Softball
Concordia’s Taylor Bussey has been named the Red Lion Softball Player of the Week.
Bussey, a sophomore shortstop from Vancouver, Wash., powered the Cavs to a 3-1 weekend that including a key split on the road at No. 13 OIT.
Hitting two home runs, Bussey recorded a school record 9 RBI in a 15-7 win the second game against the Hustlin' Owls on Saturday. Bussey tallied at least one hit in each game this week for a 1.357 slugging percentage.

Emma Buchholz
Women’s Outdoor Field
Concordia’s Emma Buchholz has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Buchholz, a senior from Sheridan, Ore., uncorked the NAIA's No. 2 distance in the javelin at the Stanford Invitational with a throw of 147-3 (44.89m) on Saturday.
Buchholz, the national runner-up a year ago is now less than a meter away from the national lead in the event.

Jessie Rozario
Women’s Outdoor Track
Southern Oregon’s Jessie Rozario has been named the Red Lion Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the week.
Rozario, a senior from Rocklin, Calif., broke an 11-year-old school record and hit an NAIA 'A' qualifying standard in the 1,500-meter race. She was in last place with 500 meters left in the race but a big final kick gave her the win and a time of 4:36.50.
She finished 10
th overall in a field of 122 athletes.
