Moates Named CCC Softball Player of the Year, All-Conference Team Announced

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After a vote by the league’s head coaches, Oregon Tech’s Tara Moates was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Year. She becomes the second consecutive Owl to receive the honor.
 
Moates batted .505 on her way to leading her team to a cascade conference regular season championship and a berth in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.
 
The freshman utility player from Klamath Falls, Ore., also received Newcomer of the Year honors as she led the conference in batting average, hits (92) and runs batted in (69).
 
Concordia’s Lucy Baldovino ended the 2015 campaign with a 3.32 earned run average and a league high 22 wins to claim the CCC Pitcher of the Year award. A native of Medford, Ore., Baldovino finished second in the conference in strikeouts (149) and first in innings pitched (202.1) while holding her opponent’s batting average to .266.
 
Oregon Tech continued to earn postseason accolades as head coach Greg Stewart was named the conference’s Coach of the Year for the second season in a row. Stewart led his team to a 41-14 record and a 22-6 conference finish. During the season, his team ranked as high as No. 12 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll. This marks the seventh time Stewart has earned the honor.
