Lowber, Thompson Earn CCC U.S. Bank Scholar Athletes of the Year
LA GRANDE, Ore. – Aleah Lowber of The College of Idaho and Eric Thompson of Southern Oregon University have been selected as the Cascade Collegiate Conference U.S. Bank Scholar Athletes of the Year, the conference office announced today.
Lowber, a junior on the Yotes’ women’s basketball team, held a perfect 4.00 GPA throughout her career at C of I with a double major in Spanish and Business Administration while also serving on the CCC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). She averaged 11-points and four rebounds as a two-year starter.
Lowber totaled three CCC All-Academic Team awards, two NAIA Scholar-Athletes, a 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and the C of I Spanish award for being the top student with a Spanish major.
Thompson is a senior on SOU’s men’s basketball team and holds SOU’s career scoring record and will leave with more wins than any other player in program history. After completing his undergraduate work with a cumulative 3.57 GPA, Thompson has a 3.93 in the one-year master’s in teaching program.
Thompson was selected to the Capital one Academic All-American second team while earning his fourth All-CCC nomination and an NAIA All-American honorable mention.
