CCC Track and Field Athletes of the Year Announced

LA GRANDE, Ore. – After two very successful seasons, Southern Oregon’s Amelia Maguin and Concordia’s Matthew Clowes have been named the 2014-15 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Year by a vote of the CCC head coaches.
 
Female T&F Athlete of the Year
Maguin, a senior from Fernley, Nev., won her first title in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.96 which set her own school record for the fourth time this year. Her two-second victory was the largest wining-margin at the meet in six years.
 
At the Cascade Conference Championships, Maguin earned wins in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash and a runner-up finish in the 4x400 relay giving her the title of Female Track Athlete of the Meet. She earned NAIA ‘A’ standard qualifying marks in all four events mentioned and became an indoor NAIA All-American.
 
Other nominees for track athlete of the year include Alyssa Neal of Warner Pacific, Talitha Fagen of Eastern Oregon, McKenzie Warren of Concordia and Joelle Swanson of Oregon Tech.
 
Male T&F Athlete of the Year
Clowes, a native of Stoke-on-Trent, England, is a four-time NAIA Champion and a six-time NAIA All-American in his senior season. He won three titles in the NAIA Indoor Championships winning the mile, 3,000-meter and anchored the distance medley relay team which earned him Most Valuable Performer in the indoor meet.
 
In the NAIA Outdoor Championships, Clowes won the 1,500-meter and helped Concordia place third in the 4x800-meter relay. His times in the indoor 800-meter, the outdoor 1,500-meter and the mile where top marks in the NAIA. Clowes also finished 6th in the NAIA Cross Country Championships.
 
Other nominees for the award include Isaac Updike of Eastern Oregon and Dylan Alexander of Southern Oregon.
