C of I and OIT Chosen to Win Men’s and Women’s Golf Titles

LA GRANDE, Ore. – With Concordia out of the mix, the Cascade Collegiate Conference golf titles are back up for grabs as College of Idaho comes out the favorite for the women’s side while Oregon Tech topped the preseason poll for the men’s side after a vote by the conference coaches.
 
Men’s Golf Preseason Poll
Receiving two first place votes, Oregon Tech won the poll with 44 total points edging out second place Corban (40) by four points. In last year’s conference championship, the owls tied for third overall falling behind Corban by one stroke.
 
The Warriors tallied the most first-place votes in the poll with three but found their way to the second spot on the preseason poll. Corban finished second in the conference tournament with the help of CCC Golfer of the Year Kade Crossland who will return after posting a 71.7 stroke average last year.
 
Warner Pacific landed in third in the poll with 38 points and one first place vote after tying Oregon Tech for third last season. Following the Knights are Northwest Christian (28) in fourth with one first-first place vote and College of Idaho (22) in sixth.
 
Rounding out the bottom of the poll are two CCC newcomers in Walla Walla University (14) and Multnomah University (10).
 
Note: Multnomah, as a new NAIA program is not eligible to compete in the 2016 NAIA or CCC Championships for one year. They are eligible to earn the CCC regular season title.
 
Women’s Golf Preseason Poll
 
Totaling four of the six first-place votes is College of Idaho who is coming off a second place finish in last year’s CCC championship. With 33 total points in the poll, the Yotes earned the number one spot by three points.
 
Oregon Tech comes in second in the poll with two first place votes totaling 30 points overall. The Owls came in third last year and named one to the All-CCC list. Next on the list in Corban (24) followed by Warner Pacific (22).
 
Finishing out the poll are Northwest Christian (11) and Multnomah (7).
