LA GRANDE, Ore. – Down 18-13 in the fourth set, Northwest University came from behind to defeat Montana Western, 25-23, to win the match 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 14-25, 25-23) in their season opening match at the Eastern Oregon Invitational this afternoon.

After taking the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-18, Northwest U looked to be on their way to a sweep of the Bulldogs from Dillon, Montana. But, Western came roaring back in the third set to win handily, 25-14, taking momentum into the fourth set. Cady Siemion’s kill coupled with an NU attack error would give UMW an 18-13 lead. Three NU kills and an attack error by the Bulldogs would make it 20-17, UMW.  Mattie Jo Johnson and Sarah Warner’s kills would knot the set at 20-20 as the Eagles would go on to outscore the Bulldogs 5-3 to take the set and the match.

Northwest U (1-0) got 10 kills each from sophomores Mattie Jo Johnson and Amanda Waterman. Morgan Pilon finished with a match high 41 assists and Leia Roy had a match high 22 digs for the Eagles. Senior Christina Gleb added 13 digs.
