KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. --Cody White scored in each half to lead Oregon Tech past Northwest Christian University 3-0 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Trevor Derrah Field. Oregon Tech improves to 1-1 on the young season as the Owls picked up the first collegiate win for first year head coach Brandon Porter. Northwest Christian slipped to 0-3 with the loss.

Chrishtianna Newell gave Tech the early lead with the eventual game winner, taking a Cassidy Gosvener long ball over the Beacon defense; Newell settled the ball and hit a laser shot from 20 yards out just over the outreached hands of the keeper into the back of the net to give OIT the 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.

Tech went up 2-0 just 13 minutes later as Bailey Whitehurst chipped a nice pass over to Cody White who scored from 25 yards out.

Northwest Christian would threaten to break through just before the half as Sami Wilson got past the OIT defense with 20 seconds left in the half but her shot was rejected by Oregon Tech’s Keeper Emma Niskanen.

The two teams battled back and forth in the second half with each team missing on several opportunities to score until Tech’s Cody White scored her second goal of the game in the 74th minute taking a Tarryn Miyamura pass and skipping a shot under the NCU keeper, giving Tech the 3-0 win.

For the game the Owls had a 20-12 advantage in shots and an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal. Melissa Weber led the Beacons offense with 4-shots on the day.

Oregon Tech will next travel to Ashland, Ore. for a non-conference match up with arch rival Southern Oregon University on Thursday, September 3 at 6:00 pm.
