Owls Rip Lions 11-0 in CCC Home Opener
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Oregon Tech men’s soccer team scored early and often in their home Cascade Conference opener on the way to a 11-0 victory over Multnomah University at Trevor Derrah Field Friday night. The Owls move to 1-2 in CCC play and 3-4 overall with the win. The Lions fall to 0-1 in CCC play and 0-4 on the season.
Daniel Blessinger scored the first goal of the game in the 6th minute when he took a Colton Grytness rebound off the left post and scored from 10 yards out to give OIT the early 1-0 lead.
Grytness would give the Owls a 2-0 lead scoring off a nice pass from Blessinger from 15 yards out.
Oregon Tech’s Casey Oltman had a hat trick, as he scored 3 times back-to-back-to-back in less than 90 seconds giving Tech a commanding 5-0 lead. Oltman first took a Lodewijk Bloemzaad long pass over the defense and scored from 20 yards out in the 12th minute. Benito Torres-Mata set up Oltman on his second goal as Torres-Mata’s shot was blocked by a defender right to the feet of Oltman who finished in an open goal from 15 yards away just 20 seconds after his first goal. Blessinger set up Oltman a minute later on a long pass as Oltman controlled the ball and shot low and hard past the keeper.
Bloemzaad then scored his first collegiate goal in the 17th minute, taking a long pass, dribbled around a defender than scored past the keeper from the right side just inside the 18 to give the Owls a 6-0 lead.
Grytness added his 2nd of the day off a Jackson Wold cross to give the Owls a 7-0 lead in the 36th minute.
Just before the half Tech went up 8-0 as a perfect corner kick form Grant Alexander was put into the back of the net by Nathan Wade.
Blessinger added his 2nd of the day just five minutes into the second half hitting a long arching shot from 35 yards out that just curled past the right post to give the Owls a 9-0 lead.
Alexander put Tech up 10-0 when he blasted a shot from 40 yards out that just glanced off a Lions defender and past the keeper in the 64th minute.
Tech saved its best goal for last as Mack Murphy headed a ball across the box and Trinidad Flores volleyed the ball past the keeper from 10 yards out giving Tech the 11-0 win.
Oregon Tech will host Walla Walla University at 8:15 pm Saturday at Trevor Derrah Field. Multnomah will face Southern Oregon in Ashland, Ore. at 7:00 pm `
NOTES:Tech played 21 players in the game. The 11 goals scored by Oregon Tech sets a new School Record. Tech had a 28-3 advantage in shots. Multnomah was held without a shot on goal for the game, Tech had 17.
