SALEM, Ore. – The top-ranked Southern Oregon University men’s cross country team put together an impressive performance on Friday at the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Preview Meet, winning the race as a team in impressive fashion. Overall, the Raiders finished in first place convincingly, while Northwest Christian University and Corban University took second and third overall.

1st: Southern Oregon: 18
2nd: Northwest Christian 53
3rd: Corban: 78
4th: Eastern Oregon: 90
5th: Pacific: 139
6th: Warner Pacific: 152
Paced by Jared Hixon, the SOU Raiders set the pace early and won the meet with 18 total points. Hixon crossed the finish line in 26:12 to win the race individually, while Ray Schireman, Connor Cushman, and Zach Boyd-Helm rounded out the top four with times under 26:42.
The NCU men ran well and were led by Garrett Kraal who took fifth overall for the Beacons with a mark of 26:46.2, while Eli Shelby and TJ Wright finished not far behind him in sixth and seventh overall in the race, edging out the Raiders’ fifth-fastest runner of the day.
Craig Boekenoogen led the way for Corban with an 11th-place finish and a time of 27:17, while Zane West edged out teammate Zach Steele at the finish line in a photo finish to take 13th and 14th, respectively with times of 27:22.
Rounding out the team results on the day were Eastern Oregon, Pacific, and Warner Pacific. Kody Shriver clocked a team-leading time of 27:02.9 for the Mountaineers for ninth place, while Jack Howard took 15th with a mark of 27:48.5.
For Pacific, Stephen Allen was the team’s highest finisher in 19th with a time of 28:11.3, while for Warner Pacific, Manny Garcia finished in 20th with a time of 28:17.6.
