Deja Vu for Volleyball, Knights Fall in Five Sets
PORTLAND, Ore. – It was déjà vu for the Warner Pacific volleyball team, as the Knights fell in five sets for the second night in a row - this time versus Evergreen.
The Basics
• Score: Evergreen 3, Warner Pacific 2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 12-15)
• Records: WPC (2-3, 1-2 CCC), ESC (2-4, 2-0 CCC)
• Location: C.C. Perry Gym, Portland, Ore.
• The Short Story: After battling an another opponent to a fifth set WP once again fell behind early, this time 4-0 before dropping the deciding frame 15-12.
How It Happened
• Set one was close for the duration, with ths score tied at 22-22 late.
• The Geoducks scored the final three points including a pari of kills from Jorden Porter to take set one 25-23.
• WP sprinted out to a 9-3 lead in set two, and won comfortably 25-17. Janessa White had six kills in the frame.
• Brandy Vleasquez served the Knights to six straight points and a 19-9 lead in set three, which WP eventually claimed 25-15.
• Warner Pacific powered to a 10-3 lead in set four, and looked ready to close out the match.
• Evergreen had other ideas and stormed back to take a 17-14 lead, then prolonged the match with a 25-21 win.
• That's when history repeated itself, with the Knights surrendering four straight points to start the fifth set.
• The Knights did manage to rebound and take a 10-9 lead in the frame, but could muster only two Nicole Lisoski kills the rest of the way.
Notable
• Grace Rivers swung for a career high 16 kills for WPC.
• The Knights hit for a .240 attack percentage compared to just .184 for Evergreen
