No. 11 Mustangs Shut Out Eagles in SoCal

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Facing a tough preseason schedule, the No. 20 Northwest University women remained winless as they fell 2-0 to No. 11 The Master’s College this morning in a non-league game in Southern California. The game was tightly contested throughout with TMC getting the clinching goal with just 12 seconds remaining in the game.
The Master’s got what proved to be the game winner at 15:46 in the first half as Kelsey Kukaua took Sarah Stead’s passed and finished to put the Mustangs up 1—0.

The score would hold up for the throughout the games as neither team would allow a score until Mackenzie Taylor would find the far corner of the goal from the right side with 12 seconds on the clock as The Master’s (1-3-1) would clinch their first victory of the season.

TMC outshot Northwest U (0-4), 11-4, but the Eagles held the edge on corner kicks with a 5-3 edge. Lauren Patefield made three saves in goal for NU and took the loss while TMC’s Jessica Zubia earned the shutout victory for the Mustangs making two saves. Gabriela De Andrade had three shots for Northwest U, two shots on goal.

Northwest U will now travel to Fullerton on Monday for a game with Hope International at 12:00 p.m.
