COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Walla Walla University Wolves (2-11, 0-7) lose to the Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls (12-4, 3-4) 79-37.

Before the teams took the court, Walla Walla University took a moment to recognize the 3rd most winningest coach in College Basketball, Danny Miles. He has coached at Oregon Tech for 45 years and has over 1,000 wins. Congratulations to Coach Miles on all of his success.

From the opening tip of the game, you could already see the physicality that this game was going to have. Within the first couple of minutes, Oregon Tech’s Derek Evans dunked on a fast break and showed the intensity that Oregon Tech planned to play with.

Walla Walla University played hard and matched Oregon Tech’s fast and physical play style well, but shooting only 18% in the first half wasn’t going to cut it as they trailed Tech 43-20 at the end of the first half.

Both teams had well rounded offenses, with 10 points by Derek Evans being the high for the Owls and 8 points by Ryan Spady being the high for the Wolves going into halftime.

In the second half, the Wolves did increase their shooting percentage, but it wasn’t nearly enough to stop the Owls.

Oregon Tech defeated Walla Walla with a final score of 79-37.

Austin Flint was the games high scorer with 14 points, but Oregon Tech’s balanced play was the key to their victory with Yellow Owl, Moore, and Evans all scoring 13 points and Halter adding 10.

Ryan Spady led the Wolves with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Andrew Nye added a hard earned 10 points.

Walla Walla will host Southern Oregon University tomorrow afternoon at 2pm in College Place.
