NU's Jordan Asher went 7 for 7 from the 3-point line tonight Eagles and Asher Fly High Over Deacons 1/15/2016 8:31:53 PM KIRKLAND, Wash. - Led by Jordan Asher's 23 points and 7 for 7 shooting from the 3-point line, Northwest University cruised to a 93-72 victory over New Hope Christian in a non-league game tonight in the NU Pavilion. Asher was a perfect 8 for 8 from the field and added 3 assists. NU shot 52 percent for the game, 59 percent in the first half to build a 54-35 halftime lead and hit 75 percent of their 3-point attempts (12-16). New Hope stayed with Northwest U throughout most of the first quarter closing the gap after NU broke out to an early 16-9 lead. Kristen Frey’s lay-in with 7 seconds to go would give the Eagles a 23-18 lead. The second quarter would be the turning point as Northwest U would break things open outscoring the Deacons 30-15 over a five minute span to lead 54-35 at halftime. One of Jordan Asher’s 3-pointers in the third quarter would stretch the NU lead to 22, 63-41 at 7:16 as the Eagles would continue to pull away. Emily Henderson’s two free throws with 1:32 to go in the quarter would give NU their largest lead of the game at 76-46. Northwest U would play their entire bench in the fourth quarter as the Eagle would close out the game for the victory. In addition to Asher's 23, Northwest U (9-11) got 13 points from Katie Rozumny who was 3 for 3 from beyond the 3-point arc and 9 points from Kristen Frey. Sophomore Charmaine Bradford led the team in assists with 5. NU out rebounded NHCC, 52-48. Jess Logan led New Hope Christian with 21 points with teammate Ellie Gould contributing 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Deacons from Eugene, Oregon. NHCC shot 31 percent for the night. The Eagles remain home and will host Walla Walla University in Cascade Conference play Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.
