The Evergreen State College shot 58 percent from the field in defeating the visiting Walla Walla University Wolves, 93-79, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball game played Sunday afternoon in CRC Gymnasium.

All 10 players scored for the Geoducks (8-11 overall, 5-6 CCC), led by Danny Powell with 24 points, while Ethan Osias tallied a game-high 28 points for the Wolves (2-16, 0-10).

When Chad Torkelsen drilled a three-pointer three minutes into the game, the Wolves held a 10-4 lead. That was as large an advantage as they would have, however, and once the Geoducks went on top 22-20 on Landon Rushton's jumper with 9:05 left in the first half, the hosts would never again trail.

The Wolves stayed within striking distance through the opening 20 minutes by shooting 8-for-12 from beyond the three-point line.

The Geoducks shot 61 percent from the field to build a 49-39 edge at the half, and they maintained the double-digit lead for all but the opening minute of the final period when Osias hit a jumper to make the score 49-41. Evergreen's largest lead of the game, 76-54, came at the 7:03 mark following a steal and layup by Jonathan Jack-Nixon.

Powell's 24 points came on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-3 from long range, and he tied Alix Hernandez for team-high rebounding honors with six. Hernandez added nine points and six assists to his line. Landon Rushton came off the bench to score 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers.

Osias shot 10-for-18, including 5-for-11 from beyond the three-point arc, in scoring his 28 points. Michael Isotalo scored 18 points and Torkelsen added 11 for the Wolves, who also got a game-high nine rebounds from Ryan Spady.

Walla Walla shot 51 percent overall and grabbed 30 rebounds compared to 28 for the hosts.

Evergreen returns to conference action next weekend with games at Oregon Tech on Saturday and Southern Oregon on Saturday.
