No. 11 SOU races past Northwest, 105-73 1/23/2016 7:24:00 PM SOU Sports Information ASHLAND – When the Southern Oregon women's basketball team's defense wasn't at its best, the offense locked into high gear Saturday night in an economical 105-73 defeat of Northwest (Wash.) at Mountain Avenue Gym. Kicking off the second half of CCC play, senior Ashley Claussen and Carly Meister overmatched the Eagles for the first-place and 11th-ranked Raiders (17-1 overall, 10-1 CCC). Claussen poured in 26 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and she also went 6-of-9 from 3-point range, where SOU was 14-of-25 as a team. Meister added 20 points and nine rebounds, leading the Raiders to a 54-percent clip from the field (37-of-69) – their second-best of the season. The Raiders have won 16 straight conference home games going into Sunday's 1 p.m. tilt against Evergreen. They allowed their opponents to shoot over 40 percent – 42 to be precise – for the second straight game and just the fourth time this season, but it hardly mattered. The Eagles were down 27-22 after one quarter, 51-33 by halftime and 80-52 at the end of three stanzas. The Raiders ended the first half on a 20-6 run. SOU hit the century mark for the fourth time this season with several other contributors – Autumn Durand (10 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds), Demi Sahlinger (10 points, 2 assists), Toria Bradford (8 points, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Sydney Mullings (7 points, 5 rebounds). Bradford and Reeves made two 3-points apiece off the bench, and Claussen hit six for the third time this season. The Raiders have gone 24-for-44 from downtown their last two games after going 24-for-111 in the previous five. Coming off its first loss of the season last Saturday at Eastern Oregon, the return to form marked SOU's sixth 30-point win in CCC play and a regular-season sweep of the Eagles. Northwest was led by Charmaine Bradford's 20 points and Brianna Fiso's 10. The Raiders remained a game up in first place over Oregon Tech, which on Saturday topped Evergreen, 78-45. Northwest Christian had been tied for second place before its 75-54 loss at College of Idaho.
