Red Lion Players of the Week Announced
The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Jan 18-24.
Javonte Byrd
Men’s Basketball
Northwest Christian’s Javonte Byrd has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Byrd, a senior from San Diego, Calif., leaded NCU to their first-ever road sweep of Eastern Oregon and The College of Idaho and their tenth and 11th consecutive victories. Shot 57.6% from the field and 58.8% from three-point range on the weekend, playing all but 12 minutes total in two games. Against Eastern Oregon, Byrd scored a team-high 20, including 4 points in the final two seconds to secure the win.
After Byrd’s three-pointer tied the game at 76-76 with two seconds to play, the Beacons forced a turnover on the inbound play, and Byrd netted the game-winning free throw with 0.8 seconds remaining. Byrd hit six triples against The College of Idaho on Saturday, including three during a 22-3 run by the Beacons to close out the first-half and put the game out of reach.

Eric England
Men’s Indoor Field
Eastern Oregon’s Eric England has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
England, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, set the best triple jump in the country with mark of 15.50m (50-10.25). He also qualified for the NAIA Championships and set a school record.

Jebari Cumberbatch
Men’s Indoor Track
Eastern Oregon’s Jebari Cumberbatch has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Cumberbatch, a freshman from St. George, Barbados, broke his one-week old school record in the 200m dash with a mark of 22.11.

Ashley Claussen
Women’s Basketball
Southern Oregon’s Ashley Claussen has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Claussen, a senior from Santa Cruz, Calif., went 9-of-15 from downtown over the weekend and made six 3-pointers for the third time this year on Saturday.
That night she had 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, marking her third straight 20-point game and 12th of the season.

Hayley Morse
Women’s Indoor Field
College of Idaho’s Hayley Morse has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Morse, a sophomore from Boise, Idaho, set the school record in the weight throw for the second straight weekend (14.23 meters / 46-8 1/4).

Tiana Thomas
Women’s Indoor Track
College of Idaho’s Tiana Thomas has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Thomas, a senior from Middleton, Idaho, recorded the #1 time in the NAIA this season in the 600-meters, crushing the C of I school record in the process with a time of 1:34.53.
