Semifinals Set in the Third Annual CCC Mascot Challenge
LA GRANDE, Ore. – It is down to four teams in the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Third Annual Mascot Challenge as we get ready to begin the semifinals starting next week.
Eastern Oregon’s Monty the Mountaineer earned the first semifinal spot after totaling 94 votes to defeat Speedy Q of Evergreen State. Monty will be seeded fourth in the semifinals after the total votes earned in the quarterfinal round.
Claiming the second semifinal spot and the second seed heading into the next round was College of Idaho’s Yote the Coyote who used a total of 223 votes to take down Rocky the Raider of Southern Oregon.
Corban’s Cadmar the Warrior earned the number one seed in the quarterfinals after tallying the most votes in the opening round and they will keep that ranking in the semifinals, earning a high of 290 votes to defeat Northwest Christian’s Mr. Beacon. Cadmar will take on Monty the Mountaineer in the first semifinal round starting on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Earning the final semifinal spot and pulling off the only upset of the quarterfinal round, Walla Walla’s Wally the Wolf tallied 176 votes in their first year in the contest to knock out last year’s runner up Hootie the Owl of Oregon Tech. Wally will take on Yote the Coyote in the final semifinal contest on Wednesday, Feb. 3.
.The theme for the semifinal will be the mascot participating in an academic activitiy on each school's campus. Voting will open by 8am on the start date listed and close at 8am on the following day at
