Adidas Team of the Week Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Northwest University men’s basketball team has been named the “Adidas Team of the Week” for January 25-31, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced.
The Eagles protected home court in two upset wins over the College of Idaho 91-81 and Eastern Oregon University 87-75. The victories were needed if NU has any chance to see CCC post season action this year.
Against C of I, Ben Tucakovic returned to the line-up and scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds. The junior missed last weekend after suffering a broken cheekbone on January 16. Dak Shagren and Tomas Ogbaslassie each added 17 points in the win.
In a game much closer than the final score indicated NU pulled away from the Mountaineers in the final minutes to pull off the second upset in a row. Dak Shagren netted 27 points while three other Eagles reached double figures. Zach Smith added 19, Paul Loranger scored 13 and Michael Dupree added 12. The Eagles shot 50 percent from the floor.
Northwest (10-15, 6-9 CCC) will travel to Corban University and Northwest Christian University for their next CCC games Feb. 5-6.
