KIRKLAND, Wash. - Tatyana Reveles' 35 yard free kick in the second overtime gave Northwest University a 1-0 Cascade Conference victory. The game was played in stormy conditions with heavy rain at times and winds gusting to 40 mph.

Northwest U dominated the offensive side with 31 shots to Great Falls’ 5, but UGF goalkeeper Kyra Dorvall came up with 11 big saves to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard for 102 minutes.

Jubilee Zevenbergen shot in the 5th minute nearly gave NU the early led, but her shot came hard off the post. Allison Lorraine also had a near miss at the 41:49 mark, but her solid shot bounced off the crossbar for no score.

In the second half, Northwest U kept pressing, but each time their shots carried wide left or right or Dorvall was there for the save. NU goalkeeper, Lauren Hellum, came up with a key save in the first overtime period just about a minute in as she stopped a possible golden goal by UGF’s Katelyn Duncan.

Reveles’ golden goal came off a free kick from the middle of the field about 35 yards out as her shot sailed past Dorvall in into the right corner for the NU win.

Bailey Travis led Northwest U 8-4, 4-2 CCC) with 7 shots, four shots on goal followed by Jubilee Zevenbergen’s six shots, two on goal. Lauren Hellum earned the win in goal for the Eagles making two saves for the game. NU had 12 corner kicks to three by UGF.

Kyra Dorvall took the loss in goal for Great Falls (2-9, 2-6 CCC) with her 11 saves, four in the two overtime periods on a solid performance for the Argos.

“I told the ladies today it was a must win, and the girls played very well from the start,” commented Bryan Chud, NU head coach. “We moved the ball well, were disciplined defensively, and had the ball for most of the match. This was a match that we should have won in normal time, but we got there in the end as our pressure paid off, and Tatyana hit a fantastic free kick to get us the 3 points.  I’m proud of the ladies and looking forward to a tough match tomorrow against Carroll.”

Northwest U will host Carroll College tomorrow at 1 p.m., with stormy weather forecasted to blow into the Kirkland area around 3 p.m. Great Falls will play Evergreen in Olympia tomorrow afternoon.
