Evergreen Remains Unbeaten, Wins at College of Idaho
CALDWELL, Idaho – The Evergreen State College used an 11-1 shot advantage in the second half to earn the equalizing and go-ahead goal, as the Geoducks remained unbeaten on the season with a 2-1 win over The College of Idaho at Simplot Stadium.
Miguel Viramontes corralled a loose ball in the box early in the 48
th minute and beat C of I (4-9, 3-7 CCC) keeper
Grant Billings to the far post to tie the score. Inside the final 10 minutes, Crisantos Chavez played a through-ball to the foot of Ryan Porch, who laced an 8-yard shot to the back post for the game-winner.
The Yotes controlled much of the first 30 minutes, as
Joao Cardoso took a
Carter Perry cross in the box in the 28th minute and looped a 15-yard shot into the top left corner of the net for an early lead. However, the Geoducks (8-0-3, 7-0-3) allowed just one shot on goal the rest of the day to keep themselves atop the Cascade Conference table.
ESC held a 19-12 edge in total shots, adding nine corner kicks in the victory.
