EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University volleyball team knocked off Evergreen on Friday night, 25-22, 25-17, 25-19 to give the team their first back-to-back wins since early September. Taylor Burnett (pictured) hit .296 and Macie Beierle had 29 assists to lead the way.
The win pushed NCU (9-12, 7-8 CCC) into sole possession of sixth-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with five games remaining before the six-team CCC tournament. Evergreen dropped to 4-18 overall and 3-12 in CCC action.
The Beacons hit .263 in the match as Beierle spread the ball around to numerous effective hitters. Burnett led the way with eleven kills. Cassidy Winters put on a showcase with eight kills and a .400 attacking percentage, along with two aces and two blocks. Macy DuCoeur came off the bench to earn six kills, hitting .238. Haley Damian and Sydney Rothenbush each collected nine digs to lead the team.
Evergreen was led by Natalie Taylor, posting a double-double with 14 kills and ten digs. Kylie Kytan added 25 assists while Megan Breckenridge led all players with 16 digs. As a team, the Geoducks hit .151.
The Beacons will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm to take on Northwest University. The Eagles, currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches’ poll, were defeated 3-0 by No. 22 Corban on Friday.
