SALEM, Ore. – The No. 22 Corban University volleyball team closed out its final home match of the regular season with a commanding 3-1 win over Multnomah University on Saturday, winning 25-15, 10-25, 25-13, 25-17. With the win, the Warriors clinched the No. 2 seed in the CCC tournament, and the 15 wins in the conference are the most ever for Corban University.

Hosting senior day, the win was a great way to honor Corban’s two seniors playing for the last time at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

“Tonight came down to a level of consistency,” said Corban head coach Kim McLain. “We have to reduce our errors and stay aggressive and mentally sharp throughout the whole match.”

Hitting for an overall mark of .217 on the match, the junior hitters carried the load for the Warriors offensively. Junior Amber Parker led the way with 13 kills, hitting for a .244 tally on the night. Junior Alaina Gentili and junior Marandah Boeder provided the assistance on the offense, totaling 12 and 10 kills respectively, with both players hitting for an outstanding .500 clip on the match.

Dishing out the assists was sophomore Madison McLain, who recorded a total of 32 assists on the match. Senior Mikenzee Frazier, who was one of the Warriors honored on senior day, added in nine assists to help keep the offense clicking for Corban.

While the Lions showed a resilient effort with a win in set two, the Warriors never seemed out of place defensively. Boeder disrupted the Multnomah offense all night, recording four blocks on the match. Her junior teammates, Gentili and Parker, added three blocks each. In the back line, junior Haley Wells completed the great defensive showing by recording 21 digs for the Warriors.

For Multnomah (10-17, 3-15 CCC), Maile Kam led the way with 11 kills, while Rachel Woodcock notched 25 assists in the losing effort.

Corban (19-5, 15-3 CCC) takes to the road to face tough competition next weekend, facing Oregon Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. and Southern Oregon on Saturday at 7 p.m., as the Warriors close out the final two matches of the regular season.
