Rocky Sneaks by Northwest Christian in overtime
BILLINGS, Mont. - October 7, 2016 - Rocky Mountain College needed overtime to slip past Northwest Christian University 3-2 in Cascade Conference women's soccer action at Wendy's Field in Billings Friday.
Rocky's freshman Mhari Smith (Edinburgh, Scotland) netted the game winner on an unassisted cross at the 93:32 minute mark.
Northwest Christian jumped out early on the Battlin' Bears as Bry Branagan-Franco connected at the 14:08 minute mark, while Maggie McCausland scored three minutes later (17:05), putting the Beacons up 2-0.
Rocky chipped into the Beacons' lead when senior Brittany Greenback cashed in on a header after Lauryn Gamache's corner kick at the 27:06 minute mark.
The Battlin' Bears trailed the Beacons 2-1 at the break.
At the 47:25 minute mark, the Battlin' Bears knotted the score from a Northwest Christian own goal.
Rocky finished with seven shots on goal, while the Beacons also finished with seven shots on goal.
The win moved the Battlin' Bears to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in league play. The host Corban University on Sunday, October 9 on Wendy's Field on the campus of Rocky Mountain College.
