Chamberlain Named Player of the Year, All-Conference Team Announced
LA GRANDE, Ore. – With the release of the All-Conference team, Eastern Oregon’s Rachelle Chamberlain has been named the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, the conference office announced.
Chamberlain, a senior from Challis, Idaho, tallied 958 assists on the year as she led her team to the highest hitting percentage in the CCC at .280, and a regular season championship. Her average of 10.76 assists per set was the second highest average in the conference.
College of Idaho’s Ashley Pagan was selected as the conference’s Freshman of the Year after totaling 207 kills with a hitting percentage of .224 in 93 matches this year. A native of Colorado Springs, Colo., she also totaled 143 digs.
Haley Wells of Corban was chosen as the conference’s Libero of the Year, collecting 443 digs as the Warriors finished in second place in the CCC standings, their highest finish since the 1998 season. Her average of 4.61 digs per set was the highest of anyone in the league.
Eastern Oregon’s success in the regular season continues as head coach Kaki Morehead was voted the CCC’s 2016 Coach of the Year. Leading her team to a 19-1 conference record during the regular season, earning the team’s third straight regular season title. Eastern will be the top-seed heading into the postseason tournament and will be the host site for the event.
EOU also claimed the most players on the All-Conference team with five.
