Semifinals Recap: #1 Eastern Oregon and #2 Corban Advance to Title Match

 LA GRANDE, Ore. – Top-seed Eastern Oregon and second-seed Corban will face off in the title match of the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, after both teams registered semifinal wins on Friday.
 
Semifinal One - #2 Corban vs #3 Northwest
 
The Warriors held Northwest to a .101 hitting percentage as they advanced to the championship match with a three set win (25-22, 25-20, 25-18). Amber Parker was the offensive force for Corban, tallying 18 kills while Adriana Aguayo finished with 13 kills.
 
Madison McLain ended the night with 43 assists while CCC Libero of the Year, Haley Wells, finished with 23 digs.
 
Northwest’s Amanda Waterman totaled eight kills while Morgan Pilon led the Eagles with 23 assists in the match.
 
Semifinal Two - #1 Eastern Oregon vs #4 College of Idaho
 
Eastern Oregon defeated College of Idaho in four sets, 26-24, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-16 to advance through the semifinals. Rachelle Chamberlain, named the 2016 Volleyball Player of the Year, orchestrated the Mountaineers’ offense that hit .242 in the match. Chamberlain finished with a match high 50 assists as four Eastern players recorded double-digit kills.
 
Makayla Lindburg tallied 16 kills to lead her team while Kasundra Tuma, Madisen Garlie and Amanda Miller each had 11 kills. Lindburg also added a team high 18 digs.
 
For C of I, Brenna Meehan led the way with 12 kills while Cheyan Coburn tallied 25 digs and Sydney Call finished with 20 assists.
 
Eastern Oregon claimed the regular season championship and along with that, earned the CCC’s first automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Tournament. Corban will receive the conference’s second automatic qualifier either as the CCC tournament champion or as the runner up.
 
The championship match is set for 3 p.m. tomorrow in La Grande, Ore.
