#1 Eastern Oregon and #2 Corban Battle for CCC Volleyball Championship
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The championship match is set as first-seed Eastern Oregon and second-seed Corban University face off for the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference Volleyball Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, today at 3 p.m.
Eastern earned a first round bye in the tournament as the CCC’s regular season champion, and advanced to the title match with a four set win over #4 College of Idaho in the semifinals. The Mountaineers were led by the conference’s Player of the Year in Rachelle Chamberlain who tallied a match high 50 assists against the Yotes.
During the regular season, Eastern was the top attacking team, holding the highest hitting percentage at .278 while averaging the most kills per set at 13.76.
The Mountaineers swept both matches against the Warriors earlier in the season.
Corban also received a bye to the semifinal round, finishing second in the regular season standings. The Warriors faced third-seed Northwest in the semifinals, winning in straight sets over the Eagles. Amber Parker was the powerhouse for Corban, tallying 18 kills while Madison McLain collected 43 assists.
The Warriors rank second in the CCC in hitting percentage at .245, while averaging 12.57 assists and 13.56 kills per set.
Since Eastern Oregon already claimed an automatic qualifier to the NAIA National Tournament as the top team during the regular season, Corban will received the conference’s second automatic qualifier either as the tournament champion or the tournament runner up.
