REDDING, Calif. – Joel Yellow Owls career night lifted Oregon Tech past Simpson University 87-75 and ran OIT’s win streak over the Red hawks to 36 games in a row Wednesday night at the Grant Center.
 
Yellow Owl was19 of 28 from the floor including 5 of 7 from long distance for his 45 points shattering his previous career high of 32 points and is the most points scored in a game by any Oregon Tech player since 1980. The Oregon Tech previous high was held by Andre Lawrence who scored 42 against Warner Pacific back in 2005.
 
Joel Yellow Owl got Tech off to a great start as the Owls led 21-12 after the first six minutes as he had 16 of the hooters 21 points.
 
Tech’s largest lead was 17 points in the first half of play, however the Red Hawks ended the first half on a 5-0 run to cut the Tech lead to 47-37 at the break. Yellow Owl finished the first half with 20 points to lead all scorers.
 
Simpson cut the OIT lead back to just 3 points at 59-56 at the 11:12 mark in second half. Tyler Hieb and Yellow Owl then extended the Tech lead back to 10 points at 65-56 on back-to-back three pointers with 10:30 remaining.
 
Yellow finished with 25 points in the second half leading the Owls to an 87-75 win.
 
Oregon Tech will take a 5-3 record into the Thanksgiving break, the Owls will next host New Hope Christian College Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 pm at Danny Miles Court,
