CALDWELL, Idaho. – The No. 17 EOU women’s basketball team concluded its road swing in Idaho today, collecting 36 points from the bench, while shooting 42.6 percent from the field en route to securing a 68-54 victory over Rocky Mountain, on Saturday afternoon.
 
EOU (6-2) was led in scoring by junior guard Maya Ah You who netted 17 points, four assists and drained three shots from beyond the arc. A pair of junior guards came off the bench and provided a spark for the Mounties. Payton Parrish added 12 points and went 3-for-7 from three-point range, while Alisha Sorensen netted nine points with three triples.

Senior guard Ashley Knight shot 5-for-9 from the field, scored 11 points along with four boards in just 13 minutes of action.

Rocky Mountain (7-2) had two players in double figures. Mikayla Jones posted 19 points and Keisha Engelhardt recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

After jumping out to a 20-8 lead after the first period, Rocky Mountain’s Mikayla Jones would hit a pair of three’s, bringing the EOU lead down to seven (17-24).  On the next play, Knight converted a layup at the RMC end, prompting the Blue and Gold to finish the second stanza on a 14-6 run, capped off with senior guard Darian Gasseling nailing a triple with 30 seconds left for the 38-23 advantage.

RMC grabbed control of the opening third period going on a 10-5 run, before an EOU 30 second timeout was called at the 3:01 mark. Despite being outscored 14-8 by the Battlin’ Bears, EOU regained its momentum in the fourth, shooting 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from the field, with Ah You dropping nine of her 17 points to secure the victory.
