Quarterfinals of the 2016 CCC Women’s Soccer Championship Kick Off
LA GRANDE, Ore. – The quarterfinal rounds of the 2016 Cascade Collegiate Conference Women’s Soccer Championship, presented by U.S. Bank, are set to begin today at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Game One: No. 1 Carroll vs. No. 8 College of Idaho – 11 a.m.
College of Idaho finished the regular season with the fourth best offense in the CCC, tallying 28 goals with averaging just over 13 shots per game. The Yotes totaled 85 saves on the year while earning four shutouts.
Behind the efforts of the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year in Jamie Carter, Carroll allowed a conference low nine goals in 17 contests this season. The Saints finished with 11 shutouts in the season.
Carroll survived a game on the road against College of Idaho, registering a 1-0 over the Yotes.
Game Two: No. 2 Southern Oregon vs. No. 7 Northwest Christian – 11 a.m.
Northwest Christian tallied five shutouts on the year while finishing 11
th in the CCC in saves with 58. The Beacons totaled 25 goals in 18 games while giving up 26 goals.
Southern Oregon grasped a share of the program’s first ever regular season title this year, led by the CCC Offensive Player of the Year in Megan McArthur who tallied nine goals. SOU’s defense also allowed the third least amount of goals in the conference at 12.
The Raiders claimed a 2-0 regular season win over the Beacons earlier this season.
Game Three: No. 3 Corban vs. No. 6 Rocky Mountain – 2 p.m.
Corban averaged the second most shots out of all the CCC teams, with just under 18 shots per game. The Warriors finished as the top scoring team with 35 goals while giving up 26 goals on the year
Rocky Mountain totaled the ninth most shots in the CCC at 203 in 17 games, but capitalized on their chances, finishing with a tie for the fourth most goals at 28. Defensively, the Battlin’ Bears gave up a conference high 37 goals.
The Warriors defeated Rocky Mountain in their regular season meeting 3-0.
Game Four: No. 4 Eastern Oregon vs. No. 5 Northwest – 2 p.m.
Northwest was the top shooting team in 2016, registering 323 shots, an average of 19 shots per game. The Eagles scored the second most goals in the regular season with 32. Northwest also managed the third most shutouts on the year with eight.
Eastern Oregon earned the fourth seed in the tournament this season after making it to the championship game in last year’s tournament before falling to Carroll. Eastern was sixth in the CCC in goals scored with 27 but second goals allowed, giving up only 11 goals in 17 games.
The Mountaineers held off the Eagles in the regular season, earning a 1-0 in the beginning of the year.
The winners of each quarterfinal matchup will advance to the tournament semifinals on Saturday with the highest seed playing the lowest seed.
