NU Eagles Defeat Embry Riddle Eagles
PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Five Eagle players scored in double figures as Northwest University defeated Embry Riddle (Ariz), 86-70, to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Tre’ Benton, Ben Tucakovic and Kaelan Hicks each scored 15 points for the Eagles with Michael Dupree scoring 14 and Justice Martion contributing 13 in the non-conference win.
Northwest U opened the game with a 53-44 first half lead and then outscored Embry Riddle 33-26 in the second half. The Eagles shot 46 per cent for the game including 43 per cent from the three point line. NU out rebounded ERAU 38-30.
Embry Riddle (2-3) shot 50 per cent for the game as was led by Sean Wood’s 16 points. Nick Johnson and Gilbert Ibarra each added 11 points.
“With five players scoring in double figures for us tonight, it means the team is sharing the ball and we are finding good percentage shots,” said John Van Dyke, Eagle head coach. As long as we can move the ball, it will create scoring opportunities for all and makes us tough to defend. I see we’re making improvement and these games are good for us in preparation for conference play.”
