Hannah Carlson led NU again with 19 points
Eagles Over Lions to Post Third Straight CCC Win
KIRKLAND, Wash. – Hannah Carlson scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Northwest University to a 79-66 Cascade Conference victory over Multnomah University for their third straight league win.
The Eagles came out strong in the first quarter scoring the first 11 points of the game while forcing five Multnomah turnovers as they would go on to take a 21-12 lead at the end of the period. The Lions would come back in the second quarter outscoring Northwest U 18-17, as Valerie Wakefield's 3-pointer with 22 seconds left would make it a 38-30 game at halftime.
Northwest U would maintain a lead the entire third quarter and leading 42-36 at the 8:16 mark, the Eagles would go on a 16-5 run at the end of the quarter to post a 17 point lead, 58-41, after Jackie Bento's 3-pointer with 1:14 remaining in the period. NU would increase their lead to 21 in the final period after a driving lay-up by Katie Rozumny with 6:48 to go in the game. Multnomah would score the final six points of the game, but it wouldn't be enough as Northwest U would post their third straight conference win.
Northwest U (8-5, 3-0 CCC) also got 16 points and 5 assists from Charmaine Bradford. Freshman Jackie Bento came off the bench to score 14 points hitting 5 of 6 shots for the Eagles who shot 45 per cent from the field tonight. Played without the services of 6-2 post, Miranda Langenhorst who has sat out the past three games with an injury.
Milan Woods scored 15 points for Multnomah (3-7, 1-2 CCC) and teammate Lacie Kamper hit 6 of 12 shots for 14 points and added 9 rebounds for the Lions. MU was held to 35 per cent shooting, and only 18 per cent from the 3-pont line.
"It was another good team win tonight," said Ken Crawford, NU head coach. "I have been happy with the learning that is taking place and the hard work being put in and it is great to see it pay off in game situations."
