Northwest Christian Hangs On For 65-64 Win at C of I
CALDWELL, Idaho –
Petra Lumpert missed a 10-foot runner at the buzzer as a late College of Idaho rally fell a point short, as Northwest Christian held off the Lady Yotes, 65-64, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
Trailing 63-54 with four minutes remaining, the Lady Yotes (1-8, 1-2 CCC) did not allow a made field goal the rest of the way. Two free throws from
Madison Pilster and a 3-point play from Lumpert got the hosts within 63-59.
After the Beacons (5-5, 2-1) got a pair of freebies from Katerina Brejchova, a Pilster pull up jumper and a second 3-point play from Lumpert cut the gap to 65-64 with 1:15 left. After two empty possessions by NCU, the Coyotes worked the ball inside to
Maddie Skaggs, who was fouled with 23 seconds left – but missed both free throws.
Alyssa Case alertly grabbed an offensive rebound to set up the final possession, with Lumpert eluding a double team near the C of I bench and hoisting the baseline 10-footer that clanged off the backboard as time expired.
C of I fell behind in the first quarter, 8-2, but got 3-pointers from Case and
Kiara Skinner to take a 15-14 lead. NCU answered with a 16-4 run of their own, getting two triples from Niki Duncan to grab their largest lead of the game at 30-19 and took a 34-29 lead to the break.

Monique Thompson had 12 of her game-high 16 points in the second half for NCU, with Conner Borigo adding 13 points and six rebounds. Duncan had 11 points for the Beacons and Brejchova led all players with 11 rebounds.
Five Lady Yotes scored in double-figures, with Skinner scoring 14 points, Pilster and Lumpert each scoring 12, with Tini and Case tallying 10.
