LA GRANDE, Ore. – The 19th-ranked EOU women’s basketball team nailed 11 triples and shot over 56 percent from the floor on the way to breezing past Corban, 88-60, on Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.
The Blue and Gold (9-2, 3-0 CCC) looked superior from the get-go and led by as many as 32 in the fourth quarter.
Junior guard Payton Parrish accounted for five of the 11 three’s, sharing game-high honors for points with junior guard Maya Ah You (Dias) at 19 apiece. Ah You also pulled down a game-high nine boards.
EOU garnered 10 points from junior forward Stormee Van Belle, while junior guard Reece Bauer and senior guard Donniesha Webber added eight points apiece.
The Blue and Gold raced to an 11-2 lead in the opening 3:21 thanks to three’s by Ah You, Bauer, and Parrish.
After Corban mustered a 9-4 run to pull to within four (15-11), EOU netted four-straight triples, and then senior guard Ashley Knight tossed in a layup as the clock expired to give the Mountaineers a 29-13 edge at the conclusion of the first quarter.
In the second stanza, Parrish and Bauer combined for five quick points to make it a 34-17 game at the 6:22 mark, and the Warriors never got closer than 11 for the remainder of the affair.
EOU shot 54.8 percent (17-for-31) in the first 20 minutes, including an 8-for-19 effort from beyond the arc.
Corban (6-5, 0-3 CCC) got as close as 12 (48-36) in the third before EOU racked up eight in a row with buckets by senior guard Bailey Schroeder, Ah You, and Webber.
In the fourth, EOU piled on 30 more points to increase the damage. Freshman guard Andi Warn, Schroeder, and freshman forward Kate Hogan tallied points to stretch the gap to 32 (85-53), and the Mountaineers ultimately dialed in its second largest win of the season.
