From the tip off, the Eagles looked to control the game starting with a 0-7 run over the Owls, before a Tech timeout is called to regroup. The Owls would come off the timeout with a different determination making the most of a few back-to-back defensive stops and converting on the offensive end, bringing the game 9-11 before an NU timeout. Both teams would continue to exchange baskets for the remainder of the quarter keeping the score within 2 points ending the quarter at 19-17.
The second quarter would see both teams pick up where they left off, in a dead heat. After a few strong defensive stops by the home team, the Owls would begin to pull away going on a 14 to 3 run over the Eagles. With 6:00 minutes remaining in the half, NU would call a timeout to try and slow the Owls momentum with the score at 33-20. The Owls would continue their defensive stand limiting the Eagles opportunities, not allowing the visiting team to go on a scoring run to get them back into the game before the half. The Owls would maintain a double digit lead at the break with the score 40-29 in favor of the home team.
The second half would see both Tech and NU making strong defensive stands in front of their hoops, limiting the quality looks at the basket. 8:00 minutes into the half each team had scored just 7 points apiece. Tech would out score NU 7 to 3 in the final 2:00 minutes of the quarter to extend their lead to 15 points, entering the final quarter of play at 54-39.
The final quarter of the game would see both teams struggle to make scoring runs on either end of the court. With just 4:00 minutes remaining in the game, Tech senior, Ashleigh Vandenbrink, found her shooting rhythm, as she hit two big 3 point shots to send the home team up 19 points over the visitors. The Lady Owls would close out the game with a 21-point lead over the Eagles, with a final score of 69-48.
The Owls had four players with double digits scoring; Morgan Ili-Roberts led the way with 14 points, while Bailey Nelson, Nohea Waiwaiole and Ashleigh Vandenbrink scored 13, 12 and 11 points respectively, while Carly McIsaac led the team with 9 rebounds.
