ASHLAND – The 13th-ranked Northwest (Wash.) Eagles were too hot and Southern Oregon was too sloppy for a fair fight Sunday afternoon, the result being a 93-73 score in Cascade Conference play at Mountain Avenue Gym.

Ben Tucakovic scored 23 points, Dak Shagren had 20, and the two seniors combined to shoot 9-for-13 from 3-point range as the Eagles improved to 12-1 overall and 4-1 in the CCC. They shot 51 percent from the field, made 12 of 24 attempts from downtown and turned the ball over only eight times.

SOU was 28-of-53 from the field, good for a clip of 53 percent, but committed 19 turnovers and only had half of Northwest's 3-point total. Ben DeSaulnier went 7-for-11 and totaled 20 points and six assists, and Conor Carroll went 5-for-10 from 3-point range on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

The Raiders had won 11 straight CCC home games entering the matchup. They've now played five top-15 teams and lost to four of them.

They worked from behind all afternoon. Northwest was up 14-10 when it went on an 11-0 surge highlighted by back-to-back Shagren 3-pointers and capped by another triple from Tre' Benton, putting SOU in a sizable hole for good.

Benton (10 points), Michael Dupree (14 points, six assists) and Justice Martion (10 points) also hit double figures for Northwest.

The Raiders will start a 12-day break, picking up again on Dec. 30 and 31 in Portland against Multnomah and Warner Pacific.

Carroll's sharpshooting kept them competitive, at least for a while. In conference play, he's now 13-for-18 from 3.
