Quick Start Sends WP Past Royals
PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific sprinted out to a big early lead, then cruised to a 82-63 win over Canadian outfit Douglas College tonight.
The Knights sprinted out to a 12-0 lead before fans settled into their seats, and after
Somto Aniefuna hit a jumpshot WP enjoyed a 25-5 advantage with 12:49 to play in the first half.
The visiting Royals began to come around at that point, and started to find better looks at the basket. A 12-4 run from Douglas made the score respectable, though the Knights took a 45-28 lead into the locker room.
The second half was a much more even affair, and Douglas managed to draw as close as 12 points (58-46), but Warner Pacific extended their lead out to 25 points after a three pointer from
Brenton Wood at the 3:47 mark.
Bryce White again was the fulcrum of the Knight offense, as the senior poured in 27 points and passed for eight assists.
Keaton Bankofier added a season best 16 points.
Douglas was led by Grant Campbell's 17 points.
The two teams will face each other again tomorrow night at 7 pm.
