Hoffman's 24 points spark SOU at Multnomah 12/30/2016 9:33:00 PM SOU Sports Information PORTLAND – Freshman forward Tate Hoffman made the most of his first Cascade Conference start in Southern Oregon's 96-67 defeat of Multnomah University on Friday night at Jim Skagen Court. Hoffman, a product of West Linn High, made all eight of his first-half attempts and drilled his fifth 3-pointer on SOU's first possession of the second half to tally a career-high 24 points. His 9-for-9 night from the field was accompanied by eight rebounds to lead the Raiders, who improved to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the CCC. Ben DeSaulnier scored 16 points and Jason Simmrin, another freshman forward, recorded 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting and six rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench. Tristen Holmes added six points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The Raiders shot 55 percent from the field (38-of-69) and assisted on 24 of their buckets, also getting four apiece from DeSaulnier and Kenny Meyer. The Lions (4-10, 1-4) were down 46-37 at halftime and cut SOU's lead to six on Trevor Cooley's 3-pointer out of the break, but went on to watch the Raiders shoot 21-of-34 for the rest of the night. Darius Redrick had 11 points and 10 assists and Max Upchurch chipped in 14 points for Multnomah, which went 8-for-34 from downtown. Leading 71-58 with 10:04 to play, the Raiders went on a 17-2 run in which Simmrin scored 12 points – including a three-point play, a 3-pointer and a transition dunk. The Raiders play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Warner Pacific.
