The game started out well for Northwest U as they would take a 12-4 lead after Katie Rozumny buried a jumper, but the Wildcats would heat up and slowly chip away at the NU lead and Quincey Gibson’s driving lay-up with 19 seconds to go would tie the game at 20-20 as the first period would end. In the second quarter it would be Linfield scoring the first 9 points to lead 29-20 at the 6:10 mark on Paige Graham’s lay-up in the paint. The Wildcats would maintain their lead the entire quarter to lead 37-31 at the half. In the fourth quarter, Linfield would take a 14 point, 60-46, lead into the period, but Northwest U would go on an 8-0 run to make it a 6 point ball game, 60-54 with 7:05 to go in the game. But NU would then manage to hit just 4 of 11 shots down the stretch as Linfield would slowly pull away for the 12 point victory. For Northwest U (6-5), Hannah Carlson scored 22 points before fouling out and freshman, Jackie Bento, scored 14 points off the bench for the Eagles who shot 35 per cent as a team and would go 1 for 20 from the 3-point line for 5 per cent. Guard Charmaine Bradford had 8 rebounds and 5 assists. NU forced 23 Linfield turnovers with 12 steals. Dani Krier hit 11 of 12 free throws on her way to a team high 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, to lead Linfield (4-5). The Wildcats shot 19-22 from the free throw line for 86 per cent. Linfield held a 54-37 rebounding margin which included 18 offensive rebounds. Audrey McMillan scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. NU will now prepare to open Cascade Conference play on Friday when they host Multnomah University at 5:30 in the NU Pavilion.
