The following CCC student-athletes have been recognized as Red Lion Players of the Week for their performances during the period Jan 25-31.

Aitor Zubizarreta
Men’s Basketball
 
College of Idaho’s Aitor Zubizarreta has been named the Red Lion Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Zubizarreta, a junior from Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa, ESP, averaged 34 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals per game over the weekend His became just the fifth player to score 45 or more points in a Cascade Conference game with his 45-point outburst vs. Evergreen...it was the fourth-highest scoring game in the 100 year history of C of I basketball and the most since the 1990-91 season (only Elgin Baylor, Mark Owen and Johnnie Hilliard have scored more). His 19 made FG attempts rank third all-time in CCC single-game history

Eric England
Men’s Indoor Field
 
Eastern Oregon’s Eric England has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
England, a junior from Meridian, Idaho, set a new school record and the best mark in the country in the triple jump with a distance of 15.61m…First Mountaineer to win an event at the UW Invitational.

Matt East
Men’s Indoor Track
 
Southern Oregon’s Matt East has been named the Red Lion Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
East, a junior from Modesto, Calif., hit an 'A' qualifying mark in his SOU debut in the 60m and a provisional qualifying mark in the 200m at the Tracktown USA High Performance #3 meet in Portland. He was the fastest collegiate runner in the 60m at 6.86 seconds and just got under the 'B' standard by .02 seconds in the 200m with a time of 22.36.

Julia Young
Women’s Basketball
 
Corban’s Julia Young has been named the Red Lion Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Young, a senior from Snohomish, Wash., scored 21 points and totaled 11 rebounds in an upset win over NCU on Tuesday before then scoring 11 more points in a victory over Walla Walla on Friday.

Talitha Fagen
Women’s Indoor Field
 
Eastern Oregon’s Talitha Fagen has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Fagen, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, recorded the best pole vault in the NAIA through Jan. 29, 2016, with a mark of 3.82m.

Cindy Reed
Women’s Indoor Track
 
Oregon Tech’s Cindy Reed has been named the Red Lion Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Reed, a freshman from Klamath Falls, Ore., made a big splash in her first ever collegiate meet running 10:46 and is now # 2 in school history and she also set a Personal Record.
