SALEM, Ore. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday that three Corban University men's basketball players and one Northwest Christian men's hoops player collected CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, recognizing their on-court efforts and dedication and performance in the classroom. CoSIDA announces Academic All-District teams each year, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Senior forward Cyrus Ward (Gig Harbor, Wash.), sophomore guard AJ Monterossi (Beaverton, Ore.), and sophomore guard Caleb Dozier (Beaverton, Ore.) all collected the honor for the Warriors, claiming three of the five spots for the College Division District Four. NCU's Jack Hackman also garnered the honor, making it four of the five honorees being CCC players. District Four includes all NAIA schools from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Canada.
Ward continues to excel during his final season with the Warriors, averaging 18.5 points per game while recording a team-best 7.8 rebounds per game. Monterossi leads the Warriors in scoring on the year, averaging a career-best 19.0 points per game while also serving as the team's playmaker and distributor, dishing out 109 total assists on the season to average 4.5 assists/game. The last award-winner for the Navy and Gold, Dozier, averages 7.9 points per game to go with 7.0 rebounds per game, both career-best marks.
Hackman (Portland, Ore.) has started every game for the No. 8 ranked Beacons and is averaging 10.3 points per game. The junior leads the team with 57 three-pointers, and is shooting 49.4% from three-point range in conference play to lead all players.
In the classroom, Ward boasts a 3.90 GPA as a Business major. Monterossi, also a business major, owns a 3.83 GPA as a Business major, while Dozier has the best GPA of the three of them with a 3.97 mark as a Business major. Hackman boasts a 3.98 GPA as an accounting major.
