SALEM, Ore. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday that Corban University women's basketball senior guard Julia Young (Snohomish, Wash.) garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District First-Team honors, honoring her for her outstanding play on the court and efforts in the classroom. CoSIDA announces Academic All-District teams each year, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Young is the only award-winner from the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) on the women's side, claiming one of the five spots in the district. As a First-Team honoree, she advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot. District Four includes all NAIA schools from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Canada.
Young, a 4.00 student as a business major, has been experiencing an exceptional senior campaign with the Warriors and currently ranks second overall in the NAIA Division II in free-throw percentage, shooting 92% on the year from the charity stripe with 92 made free throws. On the year, Young averages 12.7 points per game while grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game. Additionally she has shown her ability to be a playmaker, dishing out 32 assists on the year while totaling 22 steals.
