Wolves Upset Geoducks 83-80 for Second CCC Win

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – For a second game in as many days, Chad Tokelsen scores over 20 points to led Walla Walla University (4-22, 2-17) to their second Cascade Collegiate Conference win by avenging an earlier season loss to Evergreen State College (8-18, 5-13) by a score of 83-80.
 
Chad Torkelsen scored his first of six 3 pointers just 26 seconds into the game. The Wolves would go up by 6 after an Ethan Osias triple but Landon Rushton would hit his own triple to tie things up at 12 apiece.
 
A triple by Otis Brock would give the Geoducks their first lead with a score of 17-16. Both teams traded baskets back and forth the rest of the half with neither team going up more than 4 points.
 
With 12 seconds left in the half, Evergreen tied the score up at 40 off a layup by Taylor Drey which gave the game its 7th tie.
 
The Geoducks would see their largest lead of the game, 49-42, after a layup by Frankie Johnson but the Wolves would answer back with a 14-0 run and match the 7 point lead, 56-49, as Chad Torkelsen hit another from down town.
 
Evergreen’s Otis Brock gave the visitors a 78-74 lead with 2 minutes left in the game after a layup but a couple of shots from Andrew Nye, Ryan Spady and David Reischach would see the home team take a 3 point, 83-80 lead with 20 seconds to play.
 
Landon Rushton had a chance to tie things up with a triple from the corner but couldn’t get it to fall as Walla Walla University earned their second CCC victory, 83-80.
 
Otis Brock had a game high 33 points and 9 rebounds. Taylor Drey added 20 points for the Geoducks and 3 steals.
 
Five Wolves scored in double digits but Ryan Spady was the only player to earn a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Chad Torkelsen scored a team high 22 points with Andrew Nye David Reischach scoring 16 and 11 respectively. Ethan Osias pitched in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals.
 
The Wolves play host to Eastern Oregon on Feb 18 at 7:30pm while the Geoducks host Warner Pacific on the 19th at 7:30pm.
